P-value

Definition

The probability of obtaining results at least as extreme as the observed results, assuming that the null hypothesis is true. A p-value below the significance threshold (usually 0.05) suggests the results are unlikely due to chance alone.

Example

A p-value of 0.03 means there is a 3% probability the observed difference occurred by chance.
