Power Analysis

Definition

A calculation performed before a study to determine the minimum sample size needed to detect a clinically meaningful effect with a given level of confidence. Statistical power is the probability of correctly rejecting a false null hypothesis.

Example

A power analysis indicated that 64 participants per group are needed to achieve 80% power at alpha = 0.05.
